Cold treats all made with non-dairy ingredients and unrefined sugars — but we bet you can’t tell the difference

Frozen Paleo: Delicious Frozen Treats Even Dairy-Eaters Will Crave

Cookbook author Pamela Braun opens her cookbook Frozen Paleo: Dairy-Free Ice Cream, Pops, Pies, Granitas, Sorbets, and Morewith the line, “Following the Paleo way of eating doesn’t mean you can’t indulge your sweet tooth once in a while.”

Whether or not you are a Paleo dieter, Braun’s frozen treats will please just about anyone searching for delicious desserts with fewer processed ingredients and refined sugars.

Pumpkin Pie Spice Ice Cream

"Have you noticed how pumpkin pie-flavored food starts rolling out in early September? Being an old-fashioned kind of girl, I think it should wait until closer to Thanksgiving. This Pumpkin Pie Spice Ice Cream also squashes the backlash of only using the pie seasonings because it DOES include actual pumpkin in the recipe. It’s a great addition too, because it gives the ice cream a rich flavor. Now you can break out the pumpkin flavor any time of year." Click here to find the recipe.

Mounds of Coconut Chocolate Almond Ice Cream

"Remember when I said I was cuckoo for coconut? Well, I did it again with this one. This coconut ice cream is jam-packed with chocolate-covered almonds and more flakes of coconut. Yes, it’s just like that famous candy bar, but in ice cream form." Click here for the recipe.

Blueberry Crisp Ice Cream

"A blueberry crisp, topped with vanilla ice cream, is one of my all-time favorite desserts. So I thought, why not put everything I love about the dessert into an ice cream? Voilà, Blueberry Crisp Ice Cream was born. The crisp part comes from a layer of Paleo granola that stays crunchy even in the frozen ice cream. Now you can get all the flavors from a baked dessert straight out of your freezer." Check it out here!

Lemon-Mint Granita

"Granitas are like sorbets’ messier cousins. They aren’t as refined (smooth and silky). Their ice crystals are jagged and lumpy and they can look a little strange sometimes. But you can’t deny how refreshing they are, or their strong flavor. They’re made very similarly to sorbets except you skip the machine part and rough them up every hour with a fork, so they’re also easy to make. You may not think that lemon and mint go together, but they do. This tart granita is a perfect after-dinner treat. The mint is subtle in this one—you will taste it after the cold, refreshing ice crystals have melted on your tongue. I also like to serve this as a palate cleanser if I’m serving a big meal." Bloody Mary Granita

"This lovely little granita is a favorite of mine to serve at parties in the summer. We love a good Bloody Mary around our house, so we make up a big batch of this granita and serve it to our guests in shot glasses. It’s a great way to get your party started. It’s a little different for a granita, because there’s no sugar in it, but it has a good swift kick of heat." Check out the recipe here!

Dreamy Bites Ice Cream

"Sometimes you want just a little bit of ice cream, but know you just won’t be able to stop from finishing the whole container. That’s why there are ice cream bites! These small, dreamy bites will give you that “little bit” of ice cream you’re looking for with the added bonus of some crispy, crunchy chocolate coating on the outside." For this recipe, click here.

Then there are those that are somewhere in between, with healthier chia puddings and fresh fruit. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite flavor combination, or a new favorite date night dessert.
